I work on the parts users feel but don't think about.

General

Most of my work is TypeScript and React — Swift and React Native on the mobile side, sometimes both on the same project. Mobile taught me to care about performance in a way the web lets you ignore; you can't hide behind a loading spinner forever.

My instinct with hard problems is to keep cutting until each piece is small enough to be obvious. Somewhere in there, engineering and product stop feeling like separate jobs. Both are mostly about deciding what to leave out.

Outside the screen

I DJ'd for a few years before I started writing software, and I still keep a small studio at home where I do a bit of tufting. Most of what I make there ends up on a wall, not a floor.

A lot of what I now think of as engineering instinct really came from those years, learning to keep tweaking something until it stops bothering you.
